Pentref a chymuned yng ngorllewin Ynys Môn yw Bodedern. Wedi’i leoli ar y Lon B5109 tua 7 milltir o Gaergybi a thua 11 milltir o Langefni. Ffurfir yr enw Bodedern o’r gair Cymraeg ‘bod’ sy’n golygu ‘annedd’ ac enw’r Sant ‘Edern’ a sefydlodd Eglwys y Plwyf yn y 7fed ganrif.
Mae’n bentref gyda hanes diddorol a’r llyn naturiol mwyaf ym Môn, Llyn Llywenan, yn ei phlwyf. Mae’r Neuadd Bentref sydd bellach dros 100 oed yn parhau i gael ei defnyddio gan wahanol fudiadau. Ar safle yr hen ysgol gynradd ceir 4 uned diwydiannol ac fe’i defnyddir gan fusnesau lleol.
Ceir yma ddwy ysgol sy’n diwallu anghenion addysg yr ardal a thu hwnt sef Ysgol Gynradd Bodedern ac Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern.
Ym 2017 roedd Bodedern yn gartref i Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru.
Yng nghyfrifiad 2021 roedd gan y gymuned boblogaeth o 1,193
Bydd Cyngor Cymuned Bodedern yn cyfarfod yng Nghanolfan Bro’r Ysgol, Bodedern ar y
bedwaredd nos Lun o’r mis, heblaw am fisoedd Awst a Rhagfyr, pan na chynhelir
cyfarfodydd. Mae’r Cyngor Cymuned yn gwasanaethu pentref Bodedern ac ardaloedd
cyfagos o fewn y ffiniau ac mae’n cynnwys 11 aelod cyfetholedig o’r gymuned
leol. Mae’r cynghorwyr yn gwneud penderfyniadau ar feysydd allweddol megis
rheoli traffig, diogelwch cymunedol, gwelliannau amgylcheddol, llwybrau
cyhoeddus, parc chwarae a mynwent y plwyf
Bodedern is a village and community in the west of Anglesey. Located on the B5109 about 7 miles from Holyhead and 11 miles from Llangefni. The name Bodedern is formed from the Welsh word ‘bod’ meaning ‘dwelling’ and the name of the Saint ‘Edern’ who established the Parish Church in the 7th century.
It is a village with an interesting history and the biggest natural lake in Anglesey, Llyn Llywenan, is in it’s parish. The Village Hall which is now over 100 years old continues to be used by various organizations. On site of the old primary school there are 4 industrial units and they are used by local businesses.
There are two schools here that meet the educational needs of the area and beyond namely Bodedern Primary School and Bodedern Secondary School.
In 2017 Bodedern was home to the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
At the 2021 census the community had a population of 1,193.
Bodedern Community Council meets in Bro’r Ysgol Community Centre, Bodedern on the fourth Monday of the month, except August and December when meetings are not held. The Community Council serves Bodedern village and neighbouring areas within the boundaries and consists of 11 elected members of the local community. The councillors make decisions on key areas such as traffic management, community safety, environmental improvements, public footpaths, play park and the parish cemetery
